– Nova Scotia
The NSNP is a program by Nova Scotia that targets skilled immigrants. Successful applicants can receive a provincial nomination certificate, allowing them to apply for Canadian permanent residence. Nova Scotia offers enhanced streams aligned with Express Entry and base streams, which require direct application to IRCC.
The NSNP, which stands for Nova Scotia Provincial Nominee Program, is a program designed by the province of Nova Scotia to attract prospective immigrants who possess the skills and experience that align with the province’s targeted criteria. Successful applicants through this program have the opportunity to receive a Nova Scotia Provincial Nomination Certificate, which then allows them to apply for Canadian permanent residence.
Nova Scotia has both enhanced and base streams for its Provincial Nominee Program (NSNP). The enhanced streams include Nova Scotia Experience: Express Entry, Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities, and Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities for Physicians. Enhanced streams are aligned with the federal government’s Express Entry system, which manages permanent residence applications for Canada’s main economic class immigration programs. Most of Nova Scotia’s immigration streams are base streams, which are not aligned with the Express Entry system. Candidates who receive a provincial nomination from a base stream must apply directly to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
