The Northern and Rural Immigration Pilot (NRIP) is a program designed to attract and retain skilled immigrants to rural and northern communities in Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia, Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut.
The program helps eligible foreign workers and their families obtain permanent residency in Canada while also supporting the economic development of smaller communities. Employers in participating communities can recruit skilled foreign workers who meet the program requirements to fill job vacancies in their businesses.
To be eligible for the program, candidates must have a genuine job offer from an eligible employer in a participating community and meet the requirements for language proficiency, education, and work experience. They must also meet the eligibility criteria for one of Canada’s economic immigration programs, such as the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Canadian Experience Class, or the Federal Skilled Trades Program.
Overall, the NRIP provides an opportunity for skilled immigrants to work and settle in smaller communities and contribute to the economic growth of these regions.
