The Intra-Company Transfer (ICT) program in Canada allows multinational companies to transfer eligible employees from their foreign branch, subsidiary, or parent company to a Canadian branch or office. This program is designed to facilitate the temporary transfer of key personnel within multinational organizations and support their operations in Canada.
Under the ICT program, eligible employees can apply for a work permit without the need for a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA).
To qualify for the ICT program, both the foreign company and the Canadian entity must have a qualifying relationship, such as being a parent company, subsidiary, branch, or affiliate. The employee being transferred must be in an executive, managerial, or specialized knowledge position and have been employed with the foreign company for a certain period, depending on the specific category.
